Description
A refined bridle for longer, more progressive distance means the kite is smoother and more responsive throughout the depower range. The improved overall balance also improves drifting, so that when you surf, the kite glides along the line, waiting for your action on the bar. To make the kite more accessible to beginners, all you have to do is ride 24-meter lines on the bar.
The North Carve has a slightly smaller leading edge diameter and thinner profiles. This gives the kite a smoother power delivery, improves the high wind range, and helps you ride longer in strong winds. The kite won’t pull you aggressively, and you’ll have smoother landings on big jumps. The North Carve will also relaunch faster in critical situations.
North has introduced lighter bladders in all sizes and a lighter 2-ply canopy reinforcement. This reduces weight and improves turning speed in light winds while maintaining the Carve’s durability for surfing.
The Carve now flies faster, generating more power and board speed. It soars in the wind. Experienced riders will enjoy the kite’s impressive power and efficiency, while intermediate riders will find the Carve offers a smoother, more user-friendly ride. Freeriders and strapless freestylers will appreciate the improved hangtime and responsiveness for loops and softer landings.
Longer bridle for better drift and smoother response
The North Carve is a statically balanced and stable kite that resists nose diving. Its bridle allows you to maintain a full drift, whether you are in or out of the kite, surfing a down-the-line or onshore wave.
New durable and lightweight 2-ply canopy reinforcement
A surf-resistant exo-skeletal reinforcement completely surrounds the inner canopy, with extra large reinforcements at the ends of the battens. For the 2023, North has updated the reinforcement material to a 2-ply canopy with a wider seam and a new sewing method that is both strong and durable. Both layers of canopy material are more flexible, allowing the kite to twist better and be more responsive.
Improved wind range with more stability at high range
The low aspect ratio of the Carve gives it excellent stability and wind range. For the 2023, the linear power has been retained and the high range has been improved, ensuring the kite is rock solid when it needs to be, while maintaining the control and maneuverability you need for jumps and tricks.
Lighter bladder in all sizes
The lighter the kite, the faster the steering and the more lift it creates. For 2023, lighter bladders have been adopted in all sizes of the range. This additional weight reduction helps the new North Carve fly more efficiently, so the kite feels even lighter and more responsive in all conditions – and especially in light wind.
Smoother power
The Carve has a high buoyancy leading edge diameter for a stiff and stable frame that requires less inflation pressure. The high volume of air in the leading edge allows the kite to stay above the white water and not be easily crushed by waves.
Two-stage bow with direct pivot steering
The Carve’s responsive two-stage bow design allows for tighter turns without the need for excessive power. The two-stage bow allows the efficient, curved center region of the wing to generate power, while the straighter wingtips provide a more dynamic steering response.
High quality, pulley-less, low-drag bridle lines.
All North bridle lines are preloaded and measured before cutting to improve accuracy and consistency. The result is reduced shrinkage, reduced elongation and improved longevity. Eliminating all pulleys from the bridle improves safety and gives the kite direct and precise handling. The end result is lower drag, more precision and a more direct feel.
Refined aerodynamic profile transition panels
Profile transition panels ensure that as the leading edge extends, the tension from the extension does not migrate into the canopy and that a precise side profile shape is maintained as close to the leading edge as possible.
Soaring leading edge design for fast launch
Allows for more surface area in the center of the kite for greater efficiency and makes the kite easy to roll over the water during a critical surf relaunch. The North Carve is not swept at the trailing edge, but it has a lot of curvature when viewed from the side, and the wingtips are not particularly wide.
DuraLite seam protection
Lightweight reinforcement to protect against chafing and abrasion along the battens to the leading edge. Fine foam padding is inserted underneath to form a lightweight, durable pad that slightly lifts the wing over rough surfaces and protects the seams along the struts and leading edge seams.
3 Customized bar pressure options
Bar pressure and steering impulse can be adjusted at the wing tip, allowing you to tailor the wing’s characteristics to your personal preferences. There are three options.
Kevlar reinforced forestay system with flange deflectors
For a more precise and durable connection between the batten and the leading edge. Flange deflectors on the leading edge prevent lines from snagging on the struts.
HyperFlow One-Point Quick Inflation
Ergonomic, high-volume, one-point inflation system with a large diameter hose for quick inflation and deflation. The cap and valve base are designed for comfortable opening and closing in colder conditions (when your fingers are frozen). The bayonet-type main inflation valve is compatible with most pumps. No adapters are required.
