We have been at your service since 2000.

Here's our story since the beginning:

In 2000, Fred and André started this micro-enterprise with their converted Iveco van as a mobile store and an old military boat for giving kitesurfing lessons on the lake. Thus, Kiteshop.ch was born in the spring of 2000, which later became backside-shop.ch.
In the spring of 2001, we acquired an off-road Unimog for our school in Beauduc, France. There was also a new structure for courses at Lake Como in Italy.

With these 3 structures, we stepped up.

In winter 2001, we started with our first courses in Brazil. In 2002, we received our IKO certification. This led us to surpass the mark of training 500 students that year.
In April 2003, our first stationary store opened in Bière. So, it was the first kitesurfing store in Switzerland. In 2004, the financial situation was tough, we grew too fast and faced liquidity issues. We had to part ways with the structure at Lake Como in Italy. Fred left the adventure, leaving the reins to André.
In 2005, our kitesurfing center in Paracuru, Brazil, was booming. Isabelle, André, and the team of instructors welcomed clients on the beach. Meanwhile, our store in Bière operated even in winter with the help of our riders " Thierry, Gaël, Mu, Fru, and Alex " who managed everything. From 2006 to 2009, we consolidated our foundations and exceeded the mark of 1,500 kites sold since the beginning of the adventure.
2009 saw the creation of the new optimized and heated store right next to the "old kiteshop." Suzanne joined the team full time.
In 2010, André discovered stand-up paddleboarding and realized that this new sport is fun and accessible to everyone.
2012 saw the beginning of selling the first foils for kitesurfing.
From 2010 to 2015, our kitesurfing sales skyrocketed during this period, and stand-up paddleboarding also started taking more and more space. The store in Bière was too small. We needed to find a larger space.
In 2016, we moved to Morges. Since the entrance was at the back of the building, the name Backside was chosen, and since we mainly sell board sports, it also finds its meaning there.
From 2017 to 2021, we set up our paddle rental center and beach bar in Saint-Prex.
In 2018, we finally reached the million in turnover and sold over 1,000 paddles. 2020 marked the beginnings of wingfoiling, with a dedicated area for this new sport in the store.
From 2018 to 2021, we crossed the mark of 5,000 paddles sold.
From 2020 to 2021, we crossed the mark of 10 employees in the store. 2022, we felt the euphoria of the Covid years subsiding, and we were forced to reduce staff.
2023, we set ourselves the goal of increasing online sales to reduce our expenses and remain competitive in terms of prices while keeping our store open to ensure the best service.
In 2024, we will consolidate the work of 2023 and continue to offer you the best advice and deals. We also want to expand our range with more brands.
