Description

Introducing the latest and greatest from Appletree, the Appleslice V3, the most versatile wing foil board ever! Whether you're ready to switch boards, buying your first board, or looking to hone your wave and freestyle skills, the Appleslice V3 has what you need. From beginner to advanced rider, the V3 is perfect for progression.

Key design features

Narrower and longer! More performance in light winds. Optimized rocker for easy landings and early planning. We maintain this “long and narrow” theme throughout the size range. So even with the larger Slice's, you can carve to your heart's content. Now taller riders can enjoy the same performance as lighter ones, thanks to the finely-tuned dimensions of every board in the size range.

This new version of the Appleslice is inspired by the faster Skipper downwind and wing models that Appletree manufactures. These shapes are longer with a smoother bottom contour to help water flow more efficiently and enable the board to reach its maximum speed more quickly.

The bottom starts with a displacement hull design that pushes water to the sides. This allows the board to rise to the surface faster in low-volume sinker sizes. After the displacement hull, the bottom transforms into a flatter center section, making the Appleslice V3 much more stable than Skipper boards.

We've moved the hard rail edge up towards the nose, which helps release water and take off in light winds. When you hit the wave with the board's rail, the Appleslice V3 barely slows down. The tail of the V3 is a little narrower than that of the previous version, making it easier to turn in waves.

The top rail has a small radius, giving a wide platform on deck, and this harder rail makes the board easier to catch.

Flexible foil placement

The foil boxes on the Appleslice V3 are positioned slightly forward and feature the long foil boxes of the new Appletree for greater flexibility in foil placement.

Placing the foil further back in the boxes balances the board and reduces swing weight. This facilitates tight turns on the wave and on flat water. Moving the foil further back makes the board more stable. It also helps control the foil's lift.

With deck pad and inserts

The Appleslice V3 features comfortable pads with plenty of grip and a kick tail so you can feel where you are on the board. There are inserts in almost every conceivable position. So you can adjust your strap position to suit your preferences.

New on the V3 is the offset position of the rear foot. This gives you more leverage on the foil mast and really helps you in toe side turns when you get stuck.

Choosing your size

The Appleslice V3 is available in a range of sizes, from small 40 L to 60 L sinking boards, to larger boards up to 100 L and everything in between.

We recommend the smaller sizes to accomplished riders looking for the ultimate in performance. These sizes are also ideal for use as a foil crossover surfboard, and for use with an electrically-assisted foil, such as the Foildrive.

By increasing the size, volumes are greater for heavier riders and greater for lighter riders. We have a long video explaining which volume, sinking or floating, is best for each rider and weight range.

Finally, the floating volumes are perfect for intermediate riders looking to progress in their riding, while retaining the stability and safety of a floating board. Experienced riders will find these boards incredibly good in light wind conditions, as the wind release is exceptional.

FOIL CONSTRUCTION

 CLOSED-CELL FOAM 50K

It all starts with the core, and every board we build begins with a 50K closed-cell foam core. This foam is formalized exclusively for us, and is not used in any other board on the market.

The foam can withstand 50,000 kg per square meter, while remaining very light and, above all, highly flexible. Another advantage of our 50K foam is that it's closed-cell, which means it doesn't absorb water and the board won't burst when it gets hot.

 100% CARBON FIBER CONSTRUCTION

All our aluminum boards are produced in our 100% carbon fiber construction. You want carbon fiber in a foil board for stiffness and strength. A stiff board will give you the best foil control and response. Plus, stiffness will make pumping the foil much more efficient. With carbon fiber, we're able to make the board extremely strong yet very light.

Most of the stress in a foil board is in the connection between the foil and the board. This is where we take the greatest care and attention to ensure the strongest possible connection. The foil connection is CNC-cut with the board, for maximum precision. We use only FUTURES oneshot boxes, as they are the strongest in the industry.  The boxes are placed in a very high-density PET honeycomb panel. This PET honeycomb is itself sandwiched by carbon. This means that there is carbon fiber both inside and outside the panel. The honeycomb's open structure ensures a solid connection between the inside and outside, fusing the whole into one solid block.

Our lamination is also completely different. We use a vacuum technique developed in-house, where we apply all the carbon fibers and reinforcements to the board dry. Then we extract all the air from the bag and inject the epoxy resin under pressure. The result is the tightest possible lamination, with the best ratio between fiber and epoxy. This also ensures a 100% connection with the core, so the planks don't delaminate. Additional patches under the feet prevent heel denting.

The inserts in our foil range are made from blocks of high-density material. They can be customized according to position. These blocks are also fused to the core, so they never come loose.
