The difficult road to simplicity

At the heart of the Nexus 3’s sheer versatility is a balanced and unique relationship between aspect ratio, curvature, lug shape and precise bridle arrangement, meticulously chosen for Exotex 2 implementation on all sizes in the range. The famous wave agility of the Nexus has been retained, but with improved drifting, thanks to the reduced weight and increased stiffness.

ExoTex 2 leading edge
Core is proud to introduce our brand new ExoTex 2 leading edge which is stiffer, lighter and yet 80% more tear resistant. ExoTex 2 is a thoughtful and progressive evolution of polyester weaves, both in weave and in weft. In every inch of the Nexus 3 structure, you will see the use of ultra-resistant yarns. The entire structure is now stiffer, more tightly woven and finally treated with a unique heating and shrinking process.

CoreTex 2
Combined with the highly refined CoreTex 2 spinnaker technology, Core has accelerated the performance development in terms of lightness and dynamic handling, while improving the core strengths of the Nexus 3. The slightly lighter spinnaker fabric in the canopy has significantly improved tear strength, stiffness and durability. A new surface treatment improves stability in strong winds and jumps. CoreTex 2 sets the standard for tear strength, longevity, UV protection and stretch. Feel the crisp, clean character that only a CoreTex kite can provide.

ExoTex Light battens
ExoText Light dacron incorporates a redesigned radial thread pattern and an emulsion (protective coating) process that reduces weight by approximately 10%. While the new heavy-duty ExoTex 2 is used for the leading edge, the ExoTex Light battens improve the drift and turn speed of the Nexus 3 – important attributes for freestylers and wave riders.

Lightweight 3-batten structure
With three battens, it turns better. Fewer battens allow the kite to turn better, which improves performance in waves and kiteloops. Additional weight savings are achieved with the new ExoTex 2. Our lighter dacron really helps the kite to drift effortlessly in the waves.

Future-C Shape
The Nexus 3 is based on our proven Future-C profile. This moderate aspect ratio profile offers smooth, controllable turns with an unmatched centered feel.

CIT Modes
Choose the behavior by selecting your preferred CIT modes on the leading edge flange connection points. Freestyle mode increases your turning radius, stabilizes the kite for easier freestyle moves and provides a little more power. In Wave mode, the kite turns faster, increases depower and does not throw you off your strapless board. The kite comes in Intermediate mode to provide excellent levels of depower, responsiveness and glide.
Finish your customization by adjusting the backline connection points to set the rotation speed and bar pressure.

Stable drift and high rotation speed
The profile boom has been moved back a bit more, while the aspect ratio has been decreased to improve drift (the wing now feels a bit bulbous).
The surf profile also improves the ride in onshore wind, as this kite shape is particularly effective in getting upwind without stalling when you are on a wave.

Reaction tips
The Nexus wingtip geometry has been optimized for wave performance. The leading edge profile offers confidence-inspiring reflexes, agility and directional control during kiteloops. Slightly widened tips improve the Nexus 3’s response, agility and recovery.

Grintex patches
Wear patches where they’re needed most. Extremely abrasion resistant patches on the leading edge and batten seams provide a higher level of protection against beach hazards.

Speed Pump System + Speed value 2
No need for a mouthpiece here! The Speed Valve 2 connects directly to any standard bayonet interface. The Speed Valve 2 maximizes airflow, minimizes inflation times and significantly reduces pump effort. The air distribution system operates very efficiently with optimal access points at the slats. This inflation/deflation system is so good that you can leave your electric pump at home.

The Nexus 3 is fully compatible with Sensor 3, Sensor 2S and Sensor 2 bar systems: Sensor 2, Sensor 2+, Sensor Pro, Sensor 2S, Sensor 2S Pro, Sensor 3, Sensor 3S & Sensor 3S Pro.
